Happy 9th Birthday, Micah!!!

One year and one day after the home going of our first born son, God brought our second precious baby boy into the world. On October 3rd, 2000 Micah James Pichura was born! My pregnancy with him was full of uncertainty and the Lord often used that to cause me to really examine my own heart to see if my hope was in Christ or in my second pregnancy. From spotting in the beginning to the doctor not being able to find his heartbeat at 14 weeks, to questionable tests that led to the possibility that he would be born with down syndrome (an answer we did not fully know till he was actually born), to going into pre-term labor with him at 30 weeks, an ambulance ride to take me to a different hospital, a week in the hospital and bed rest until 36 weeks. God gave us very little opportunity to think that we were in control of anything!:)

Micah's life has continued to keep us on our knees before the Lord...no, he is not rebellious, although his first few years were incredibly difficult. He was so smart and yet so sinfully strong-willed. Those were the days of sowing and trusting the Lord that the fruit would come in His perfect timing...and, if I am being honest, it took a couple of years to see that fruit. We continue to see the fruit in His life and believe that the Lord truly has saved him. He struggles with his flesh all the time...and that is what keep us on our knees asking the Lord for wisdom in how to shepherd him...but that is also what brings us great joy...THAT THERE IS A STRUGGLE, a battle going on in his heart. If there was no fight but just a giving in, we would be really concerned. But he battles much the same as we do and it is an exhausting joy to come alongside of him and encourage, correct and discipline him as he fights his flesh. I know the fight well, it's one I fight every day...and so it has become routine for me to point Micah to the cross...the same place that I need to be looking to every day myself!

Micah loves the loves he loves with great passion and intensity. We encourage him to love things and be passionate about things...as long as, in his loving, he loves Jesus most of all!!! Right now, his loves include: baseball, legos, Star Wars, guitar and skateboarding. For his birthday, he wanted a lego/Star Wars birthday party. He had one friend spend the night and then Bryan and I surprised him with inviting 5 families over for cake and ice cream yesterday afternoon. He had a great day and so did we. Micah lights up our life with his passion, his questions and his understanding of the Word of God and desire to live it out. We are so thankful that God ordained our precious son, before the beginning of time, to be in our family! We love you buddy!

My attempt at making "lego cakes" :)

32 people in one room...not to bad!:)

This was Micah's first time to a skate park...he had so much fun and did GREAT! The fall at the end looks bad...but he was just fine!!! He got a new red skateboard helmet for his birthday too!

I loved how you explained being thankful for the struggle that you see in Micah's heart. What a good was of expressing that!

Tonight Kalindi prayed, "Give me a heart to know You." I about cried!

I am so thankful for the moving of the Spirit I see in their lives. So precious! Being a parent is such a blessing - just as you said.

You can sure tell the difference between a Father and a Mother when it comes to our children's "falls." :) ... Mom's rush in and dad's cheer! :)
