Another Reason to Wear Your EPG's (Eternal Perspective Glasses)

There is another benefit, I find, to wearing our EPG's (Eternal Perspective Glasses). It helps meld two worlds together...our relationship with God and our relationship with man.

For some reason, we tend to think that if we have our eyes fixed on God then they can't be fixed on man. Yes, it may be true that when we "turn our eyes upon Jesus (and) look full in His wonderful face, the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace".  But, it's just as true that gazing on God, beholding all that He is and seeking to magnify Him actually fuels our relationship with others. With EPG's firmly in place, we can look through the eyes of Christ to the world around us and see how we can best glorify Him through His Spirit in the everyday moments and the not so everyday moments of life. It's not "eyes on Jesus or eyes on man"...in many ways, it's both. As Bryan put it a couple of Sunday's ago...passion for Christ spills over into compassion for those around us.

When we look at life through the lens of Scripture, we see the character of the God we adore more and more...and that character makes it's home in our own hearts, through the Holy Spirt, so that we begin to see what God sees and think what God thinks and act how God acts. We become the aroma of Christ to those around us.

It all starts with a proper lens, a proper filter...it all starts when we are people of the Book. It all starts when we put on our EPG's. And it's a beautiful thing!

Amen dear sister! Thank you for this reminder. Unless Jesus Christ be preeminent in all things then everything will be tainted with a "me first" attitude. Oh how I need Christ to work in and through me by the power of the Spirit to love the things He loves and to hate the things He hates.
