So, You Wanna Come Over For Dinner?

"Above all, maintain constant love for one another, since love covers a multitude of sins. Be hospitable to one another without complaining." I Peter 4:8-9
Last night, we had a precious time as a fellowship group talking about hospitality. We worked through an article we had read beforehand....a fantastic blog post that I would highly encourage you to read HERE. It is called "The Lost Art of Hospitality" and the author gave us four compelling reasons to be about welcoming others into our lives and homes; for being open with our time, our resources, our energy...ourselves!

Hospitality:
-Helps with integrity
-Helps with talking to others
-Helps against selfishness
-Helps with evangelism

And then the author ends with an encouragement...a way to begin putting the command of hospitality into practice:

"All in all, hospitality is one of the greatest tools God uses to help you grow in your faith. If you don’t have family meals around the table, start there. Once you’ve mastered that, have someone you like over to your home from church. Once you’ve done that, have someone over who you don’t know from church. Then, have people over from church who you don’t really like. Then, walk over to your neighbor’s house and ask them to come over for dinner. Make it a practice to have people in your home consistently, and you will never regret it."

Hospitality is near and dear to Bryan's and my heart, but if we don't have a plan, it doesn't happen. It just doesn't. It takes intentionality! That's why I love the practical application this author gives and I hope you'll join us in pursuing the "Art of Hospitality". Really, it's the BLESSING of hospitality! Give it a try...you'll see! :)
